The ‘Cote d’Argent` is 106 km of sandy beaches between the waves of the Atlantic and the dunes and the Landes Forest. Do not miss a visit of The Great Dune of Pyla, the largest sand dune of Europe with its 107m height.
Planted in the 19th century to drain the vast stretches of sandy marshes, the Landes and Gascogne forest is the largest man-made forest in Europe. It was classified as a National Nature Park in 1970, with the aim to protect the rich natural heritage that is nonetheless fragile.

• Ecomuseum of the Grande Landes (Sabres):  testimony of the life of the people of the Landes in the XIXth century
• Historical Museum of Hydroplanes (Biscarosse):  former base for hydroplanes operating transatlantic flights and wherefrom Antoine de St Exupéry and Jean Mermoz took off
• The House of the Pine (Pontenx-les-Forges): all about the transformation of the wood of the maritime pine tree
• the Chateau of Woolsack (close to the lake of Aureilhan):  former hunting lodge, built in the 19th century by the 2nd Duke of Westminster
• the Lighthouse of Contis (St Julien en Born):  the only lighthouse of the Landes coastline, halfway between Arcachon and Biarritz, and painted white with a spiralling dark stripe
• The Bell Tower (Mimizan):  Abbey of Mimizan, remains of an ancient church, XIII th century, contains many remarquable polychrome sculptures and wall paintings, UNESCO World Heritage Patrimony
• the farm "La Closerie" (Luë): guided tour by the owner of the traditional breeding of ducks, sale of foie gras, confits and other products cooked at the farm
